As fraud and cyber scams continue to evolve, protecting your business accounts is more important than ever. At FFB, your account security remains one of our top priorities – but keeping your accounts safe is a team effort. Even small security steps can make a big difference in helping prevent fraud.

One of the simplest ways to help protect your business banking is by using Dual Control, a recommended security procedure designed to help reduce fraud risk and prevent unauthorized transactions.

What is Dual Control?

Dual Control adds a second layer of security by requiring two authorized users to complete certain transactions, including ACH and wire transfers.

Here’s how it works:

  • One authorized user initiates the transaction
  • A second authorized user reviews and approves the transaction before it’s processed.

By requiring two sets of eyes on high-risk transactions, Dual Control helps reduce the risk of fraud, unauthorized activity, and accidental errors before funds leave your account.

Why We Strongly Recommend Dual Control

Dual control is widely recognized as a business banking best practice because it helps:

  • Add an extra layer of protection against fraud and account compromise
  • Reduce the risk of unauthorized or accidental transactions
  • Strengthen internal controls and accountability
  • Provide greater confidence and peace of mind

For many businesses, Dual Control offers a simple way to strengthen security without adding significant complexity to everyday banking activities.

An Important Update for Single Control Accounts

We understand that every business operates differently, and some customers may choose to use Single Control for ongoing transactions.

As part of our commitment to account security, FFB will start reviewing transaction limits for Single Control accounts in the coming months.

Customers who choose to use Single Control should be aware that, in certain situations, FFB may require them to formally waive Dual Control protections and accept liability for unauthorized transactions that could have been prevented or detected through the use of Dual Control.

As a reminder, under the terms of the Online Banking and Cash Management Services Agreement, if you elect not to use Dual Control, FFB will not be liable for unauthorized transactions that would have been detected and/or prevented through the use of Dual Control.

What to Expect

  • Transaction limits for Single Control accounts will be reviewed in the coming months.
  • Based on the results of that review, limit adjustments may take effect thereafter.

These updates are intended to help reduce fraud risk and support safer banking practices.

Review Your ACH and Wire Limits

No matter which security setup you use, it’s always a good idea to review your ACH and wire limits regularly to ensure they continue to align with your business needs.

You can review your limits any time through Online Banking (OLB).

If your limits are higher than necessary, our team can help you make adjustments to balance operational flexibility with account security. Sometimes a small change can make a meaningful difference in reducing risk.
